There is lots to explore at The Big Draw at the Barber Institute on Saturday 24th October. Make sure you allow time for these exciting concerts:
James Mayhew – 11.30am and 2.30pm (1 hour long each time) – each concert incorporates storytelling, live painting by James and live music by internationally acclaimed Russian pianist Alexander Aradov. Children will have sketch books to sketch along too. James will also be book signing after the concert.
Simon James – 12.45pm and 2.45pm (1 hour long each time) – Simon will be reading and drawing pictures from his popular book Rex and talking about being an author-illustrator. Charming and engaging, Simon will engage the audience and this was one of our most popular sessions with families at the 2015 Book festival. Simon will also be book signing after each session.
The Big Draw will be a wonderful half term day out for 5-12 year olds and is FREE thanks to funding from Arts Council England but you do need tickets for both adults and children.
The event is on Saturday 24th October from 11am to 4pm at the Barber Institute. You can either pick up tickets from the Bournville Community Hub or the Barber Institute. For online e-tickets, click on the Events button on the Busy Parents Network Facebook Page.
We will also be hosting a Big Draw event for under 5’s at Bournville Community Hub on Friday 30th October led by local artist Nicki Allen. Due to popular demand this event is also by ticket only rather than a drop in event. This is so we can ensure we’ve got enough art materials and also so we don’t get too over-crowded at the Hub! We have recruited additional artists and will now run 3 activity rooms rather than just 1! Tickets available in the Hub or via Facebook Events page.
